Change your menus

Menus are changed in one window, not on the page. The Header menu is the menu at the top of every page. The Footer menu is the Pages column in the footer.

  1. In the panel on the left, under Your website, click Menus.
  2. Click the Header menu tab or the Footer menu tab.
  3. Type a label for each item.
  4. Choose what each item links to:
    • A page. Each page is listed as “Page:” and its name. A draft page says “(draft)”.
    • Custom URL for a web address. Type the address in the box that appears. Start it with https://.
    • Dropdown (holds links), in the header menu only. The item opens a list of links. Its own link becomes the first link inside it.
  5. For a dropdown, click + Add a link inside this dropdown to add more links. Each new link starts as “New link”. Give it a label and a link.
  6. To add an item, click + Add menu item.
  7. To take an item out, click the × at the end of its row.
  8. Click Done.
  9. Click Publish. See Publish your site.

Your changes show in the builder right away. They reach your live site when you publish.

Move an item in any of these ways:

  • Drag it by its ⋮⋮ handle to its new place.
  • Press Tab until the ⋮⋮ handle is selected, then press the up or down arrow key.
  • Click its ↑ or ↓ button.

Links inside a dropdown move the same way, within their dropdown.

Use the ↑ and ↓ buttons to move an item. They are easier than dragging on a small screen.

The template’s header menu has a Watch dropdown. Inside it, the Live Stream link goes to youtube.com in general. Publish stops until you fix it.

  1. In Menus, on the Header menu tab, find Live Stream inside Watch.
  2. Paste your church’s own YouTube channel or stream address in its web address box. If the church does not stream, click the × to take it out.
  3. Click Done.

The Watch Live Online button on the Plan Your Visit page also goes to youtube.com in general, and Publish stops for it too. Click the button on the page to change its link. See Change a button or link.

  • “The Live Stream item in your menu still points at youtube.com in general.”: Publish stopped. Put your church’s own channel or stream address in, or remove the item. See the steps above.
  • “That is not a web address we can use. Start it with https://.”: Type the full address, like https://www.youtube.com/@yourchurch.
  • The links inside a dropdown are gone: You changed the dropdown to a page or a Custom URL. The links inside it came off the menu. Undo puts them back. See Undo a change.
  • A page is missing from the menu on your live site: The page is a draft. See Show or hide a page.
