Set up a VBS page
Your template comes with a Vacation Bible School page, with a sign-up form for parents. It starts off, so visitors cannot see it until you are ready. Its address is your site’s address followed by /vbs.
What is on the page
Section titled “What is on the page”- A large top section with a title, your dates, your address and a Register button.
- A short description of the lessons.
- Who Is Teaching, a few lines about your teachers.
- VBS Schedule, one row for each lesson, with its day, title and time.
- Our Location, with your address from Church info, a photo and a map.
- Register Here, a sign-up form for parents.
Fill it in
Section titled “Fill it in”- In the panel on the left, under Pages, click VBS. It shows DRAFT beside its name.
- Click the title, the dates, the description and the Who Is Teaching words, and type your own. See Change the words on a page.
- Click a photo to change it. See Change a photo.
- Click a lesson in VBS Schedule. The Edit schedule item window opens.
- Type the Month (e.g. JAN), the Day, the Title and the Time. Click Save.
- Do the same for each lesson.
- To add a lesson, click + Add a schedule item, fill in the boxes, and click Add. To remove one, click the × at its corner.
Publish stops while the page still shows the template’s sample dates, June 12-14, or the sample lesson days, JUN 12 to JUN 14.
The sign-up form
Section titled “The sign-up form”Each sign-up from Register Here is emailed to the email address in Church info. A parent can add more than one child with + Add another child.
To send sign-ups to other people, like your VBS director, or to change the email the parent gets, point at the form and click Form settings. See Set up your forms.
Turn it on and add it to your menu
Section titled “Turn it on and add it to your menu”- Under Pages, click the gear beside VBS. Page settings opens.
- Switch Page published on.
- Click Save. Turning a page on does not add it to your menu.
- In the panel on the left, under Your website, click Menus.
- Click Header menu, then click + Add menu item.
- Type a label, like VBS. Choose Page: VBS for its link.
- Click Done. See Change your menus.
- Click Publish. See Publish your site.
Want a ribbon across the top of every page that points to it? See Link the banner to your event page.
A second VBS or event page
Section titled “A second VBS or event page”To keep this year’s page and start another, add a fresh copy.
- Under Pages, click Add a page.
- In Start from, choose Prebuilt: VBS.
- Type a Page name, like VBS 2027.
- Click Continue.
The new page starts as a draft, just as the template ships it. Fill it in and turn it on the same way. See Add a page.
After VBS
Section titled “After VBS”- If the banner points to this page, switch the banner off first. See Add a banner across the top.
- Click the gear beside VBS. Switch Page published off and click Save.
- Click Publish.
The page leaves your live site and your menus. It stays in the builder with everything on it, ready for next year. Its old address sends visitors to your homepage until you turn it on again.
If it does not work
Section titled “If it does not work”- Publish says the VBS sample dates or sample days are still on the page: Click the dates in the top section and type your own. Click each lesson and change its month, day and time.
- Publish says pages you turned off are still linked: A menu item, button or the banner still points to the VBS page. Remove that link, or switch the page back on.
