Edit your church leaders

The About Us page has three sections for your leaders: Our Elders, Our Deacons and Our Evangelist. They start with sample names like Sample Elder. Your site cannot be published until you change them.

Change a name

1. In the panel on the left, under Pages, click About Us.
2. Scroll to Our Elders.
3. Click a sample name, like Sample Elder. Type the person’s name.
4. Click anywhere outside the name to finish.
5. Do the same for each name under Our Elders, Our Deacons and Our Evangelist. The evangelist’s sample name is K. Sample.

The words under each heading are yours to change too. Click them and type.

Change a photo

1. Click the person’s photo. The Replace image window opens.
2. Click Choose a photo, or drag one here, and choose their photo.
3. In Describe this photo (alt text), type the person’s name.
4. Click Apply.

A head-and-shoulders photo works best. The box is taller than it is wide. See Change a photo and Move a photo to frame it.

Add a person

1. Under the names in that section, click + Add an elder, + Add a deacon or + Add an evangelist.
2. Type their name in Name.
3. Click Add.

The person is added with a placeholder photo. Click the photo to put in theirs. You do not need a photo. The placeholder can stay.

Remove a person

1. Point at the person. A × appears at the top right of their card. On a phone or tablet, it is always there.
2. Click the ×.

The person is gone. To bring them back, undo it right away with Cmd+Z on a Mac or Ctrl+Z on Windows. See Undo a change.

Note

No deacons, or no evangelist? Hide that whole section instead of leaving it empty. See Hide or delete a section.

Click Publish when you are done. See Publish your site.

If it does not work

• Publish says “The elders section still shows the template’s sample names” (or deacons, or evangelist): A sample name is still on a page. Publish names the page. Click each sample name and type your own, or hide the section.
• Publish says “Our Elders on About Us has nobody in it”: You removed everyone. Add your elders, or hide the section if the congregation has none.
• The + Add button is gone: Make sure the section heading still says Our Elders, Our Deacons or Our Evangelist. The button looks for those words.
