Add a video
A video section shows one video from YouTube or Vimeo. Visitors press play and watch it right on your page. You do not upload the video to us. You paste its link.
- Open the page where you want the video.
- Add one of the two video sections: Hero: split with video (a heading and invitation beside the video) or Video with headline (a centered heading with the video below it). See Add a section.
- Click the video box. It says Click to add your YouTube video. The YouTube video window opens.
- In YouTube link, paste the video’s link.
- Click Use this video.
The builder says Video updated. In the builder you see the video’s picture with a play button.
Click Publish to put it on your live site. See Publish your site.
To change the video, click it and paste a new link.
Links that work
Section titled “Links that work”- A YouTube video’s own link, like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XXXXXXXXXXX
- A short YouTube link, like https://youtu.be/XXXXXXXXXXX
- YouTube Shorts and YouTube live links for one video
- A YouTube playlist’s embed code. On YouTube, open the playlist, click Share, then Embed, and copy the code.
- A Vimeo link, like https://vimeo.com/123456789. Unlisted Vimeo videos work too. Copy the whole link.
If the link has a start time, like ?t=90, the video starts there. This helps when you stream the whole service and want to link the sermon.
A link to your channel does not work. It is not a link to one video.
A video behind a section is different
Section titled “A video behind a section is different”A background video plays silently on a loop behind a section, and visitors cannot press play. It needs a direct link to an .mp4 or .webm file. A YouTube link does not play behind a section. See Change a section background.
A sermon’s video goes in the sermon itself, not in a video section. See Add a sermon.
If it does not work
Section titled “If it does not work”- “That link will not play.”: Copy the link from the video’s own page, not from your channel or a playlist page. For a playlist, use its embed code.
- Publish says “A video section on … has no video in it yet”: An empty video section would go live as an empty box. Click the video and paste a link, or delete the section. See Hide or delete a section.
- A Vimeo video says it does not exist: Check in Vimeo that the video is not private. For an unlisted video, paste the whole link again, including the part after the last slash.
- The box shows no picture in the builder: Vimeo videos and playlists show no picture while you edit. The box says Click to change this video. It still plays on your live site.
