Understand roles and access levels

Read this before you create a role or give a person a role. A role decides what a person can see and change in Project Go Hub.

Who can do this: anyone can read this page. To see your church’s roles, you need View or Edit access to Role Management.

  • Each person has one role.
  • Two roles are built in: Admins and Members. In User Roles, they show as Admin and Member. You cannot change or delete them.
  • You can create more roles. See Create a role.
  • When you change a role, the change applies to all people who have that role.

A role has one access level for each screen.

Level What it means
View The person can open the screen and read it. The person cannot make changes.
Edit The person can open the screen and make changes.
No Access The screen does not show in the person’s menu.

Some screens do not offer all three levels. The role form shows only the levels that a screen allows.

If a feature is turned off for your church, its screen stays hidden for all roles.

The Screen column is the name in the role form. The menu path is for a computer. On a phone, tap More to open the same menu.

  • The Attendance Tracker menu item never shows for the built-in Members role.
  • Visitors, Song Tracker and Donations Manager are not in the role form. A role that you create cannot open them.
  • A person can also see Message Manager if a member group lets them send messages.
